Some of your shipgirls can receive a retrofit. Retrofitting provides enhancements. Only some ships have retrofits, but in the dock, you can filter on Retrofit Available.

Dock Filter Settings
Dock with Retrofit Selected

To retrofit a ship, you go to the Retrofit tab on the ship details page. Dock -> Click a Ship -> Retrofit.

Retrofits are done in order, with early retrofits enabling later ones. There will also be level and limit break requirements, and each retrofit will require various parts such as Battleship Plans, Gun Parts, et cetera.

This is the current state of Warspite, with three retrofits completed. I am not currently using this shipgirl in an important role, so she is not fully limit broke. If I click on the completed retrofits, I see:

  • Hull Improvement: +70 HP
  • Reload: +5 RLD
  • Anti-Air Gun: +5% Anti-Air Efficiency

If I perform the retrofit:

  • Anti-Air: +10 AA bonus
  • Anti-Air Gun II: another 5% Anti-Air efficiency
  • Hull Improvement II: another 70 HP
  • Reload Enhancement II: another +5 RLD
  • Firepower: FP +5
  • Main Gun: Main Gun Efficiency +5%
  • Modernization: I'm not entirely sure what this does.
  • Tactical Skill: Learn Skill: The Royal Navy Legend (unlock a skill used during combat)

Completing retrofits is worth it, but you use valuable resources, so retrofit your most important ships first.

Drops Required

The drop you'll need the most of are Ship Plans specific to the type of ship you're retrofitting:

  • Destroyer Retrofit Plans: Hard mode x-1, chapter 3 and above
  • Cruiser: Hard mode x-2
  • Battleship: Hard mode x-3
  • Carrier: Hard mode x-4

In addition they drop as T1 (grey), T2 (blue), T3 (gold). You can convert 6 T1 -> 1 T2, but you can't combine T2 to get T3. You'll also find them in some commissions, missions, some research, and the Medal Exchange Shop.
