A Beginner's Guide to Spending Resources

Like many games of this nature, there are several currencies and resources you can spend. The one that is critical is gems. You are strongly discouraged from spending any gems until you read the basic information.

Gems

In the beginning, it feels like you will have ample gems for everything you want. But this is a gacha game, and they're luring you in. The game gives you a lot of gems at the beginning, but the flow slows down dramatically after a week or two. For this reason, unless you want to spend significant real world money to buy them, it is important to be mindful how you will spend gems.

You will need to spend gems on the following

• Expanding your Dorm. You will want to allow more than 2 visitors in your dorm, and it gets expensive.
• Expanding your Dock. You will need to expand the dock to hold all the unique Shipgirls you keep.
• Expanding your Tactical Training Room. This lets you have more students at a time.

All other uses of spending gems should come behind these three. For me, the next priority was:

• Buying Promise Rings so I could marry Shipgirls.

The problem for me was that I spent my gems on marrying several shipgirls early, and I didn't have gems for the main priorities. Unless you want to spend real life money to buy more gems, think three times before spending gems on anything else.

You can farm them -- there are YouTube videos about this. But it's slow and time-consuming.

Oil

If you've done the in-game tutorial, you know that you spend oil when your ships do battle, except in Operation Siren. Some zones have a small oil fee to enter the zone (usually 10 oil). But each fleet you battle in the zone will require additional oil, and the amount it costs depends upon your fleet. For the first few days you play, it will seem like you have all the oil you can handle, because you have a young fleet, and low level ships don't consume as much oil as higher level ships.

You can't avoid spending oil, but you can control how fast you spend it, and there are things you can do to farm more.

The Official Wiki has a good page on oil costs as well as zones with oil caps. Note that from 9-1 and up, once you've cleared the zone once, if you use clearing mode, then the cap will apply.

You acquire oil, slowly, in your Canteen. You will need to click on the oil barrel periodically to collect it, and you can only collect as much as is marked as your max.

There are also Missions and Commissions that give oil. I do them when they come up. There are also various ways to buy oil in the [[Supply Shop].
